Assault/Stolen Car
At 10:55 pm, Friday, Sept 29, 2023, a CPIV resident was assaulted and robbed by four or five young men/youth while getting out of his car on the unit block of G Street, SW. The owner did not sustain any serious injuries.
The thieves stole the resident's car key and backpack then ran west toward the CPIV playground area. One thief doubled back shortly after and stole the resident's car.
The owner had a tracking device in his car and he was able to retrieve his car within 6 hours from Delaware and M Street, SW.

Around 10 am, several youths again attempted to enter a house in the 700 block of Delaware Avenue, SW in order to steal bicycles. The youths climbed over the rear patio enclosure to gain access to the locked rear yard. The attempt was captured on video and a police report has been filed.

At approximately 9:30 pm, a CPIV resident was assaulted and robbed by two young males (approximately 18-19 years old) while parking and preparing to exit his car. The incident occurred in the NE parking lot. The resident suffered bruises to his head and face but was able to get away from his assailants. The police were notified.

A car belonging to a resident in the Unit Block of G Street had the 2 driver side windows broken sometime during the night. The car, a grey Kia Optima was parked in the NE lot.

Suspicious Behavior
Residents living in the Unit block of G Street reported that 2 men on a motorcycle were scouting the SE parking lot at 9:30 pm. One man went behind the resident's car to look under the cover of their motorcycle which the other appeared to being keeping a lookout. The residents confronted the man, who was also urinating by their car. He admitted he was jealous of their motorcycle. Later that night (1:40 am on 3/27/2023) they saw a man examining the locks on their motorcycle. When they went outside, he retreated to his vehicle and sat in his car. They called the police who arrived on the scene and questioned the man. He then left the area. Nothing was stolen.

A resident living in the 200 block of G Street was robbed at 12:10 pm in the area between the townhouses and the Freeway. The attacker was carrying a gun and took off in a gold-colored car which was driven by a second individual. The wallet and phone of the CPIV resident were stolen. The police were notified and responded on site.

On Saturday, September 17th around 6:00 pm on the 200 block of G Street, there was an assault of an owner who confronted someone parked in their parking space NW 73. The assailant punched the owner, knocking them to the ground, then sped off. A police report was filed.

Attempted Car Break-In
Around 10:30 am, a black SUV pulled into the parking lot by the playground and 2 individuals in ski masks attempted to break into a work truck belonging to a resident. The men were unsuccessful and quickly left the area after noticing that they were being observed by people in the neighborhood. Residents in the playground area called 911. Police responded.

A "DC Alert" sent to 1st Police District (PSA 101-108) confirmed that on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at approximately 10:52 pm, there was a "Shooting Investigation in the 100 block of G Street, SW." The alert instructed to "lookout for a black male wearing a grey hoodie armed with a handgun. DO NOT TAKE ACTION CALL 911 W/ EVENT # I20220115983.” No further updates regarding arrests.

Overnight, a tenant residing in the 200 block of G Street reported that all four wheels were stolen from their Honda Sport vehicle. It is not known if a police report was filed.

Burglary Attempts
Several owners in the 200 block of G Street and 700 block of Delaware Ave reported a man approximately age 50 dressed in a white winter coat knocking on doors, trying doorknobs, and going through the trash. Police were called, but no one was arrested.

Burglary Attempt/Vandalism
Between midnight and 1 am, in the 200 block of G Street, at least two residents reported that a black man in his 50s wearing a white winter coat was trying the doorknobs of both doors of their tandem units. Another resident found opened trash bags in the arcade near their unit, as if someone had been looking for food. Lastly, a resident in the 100 block of G Street reported someone repeatedly ringing their doorbell. The police were notified and doorbell camera footage was provided, but no arrests were made.

House Fire
In the 800 block of 3rd Street, a unit caught fire within CPIV. For safety, the unit has been boarded up as an investigation takes place to determine the cause of the fire. Out of respect for privacy, no information was provided about the condition of the resident who lived there.

Burglary Attempt
At approximately 3:00 am, an owner observed a man trying the doorknobs along the 700 block of Delaware Ave. The owner spoke to the man, who then began to travel towards G Street as he left. A police report was filed.

Gunshots Fired
Gunshots were fired in the vicinity of the roadway between 201 G Street and 103 G Street around 10:30 pm. There were no injuries and no arrests were made. Police responded to the incident.

3rd Street Parking Lot. Tuesday morning, a resident discovered that someone forced open her front driver side car door and rifled through her car Monday night/early Tuesday morning.
In addition, there was an unforced entry that happened in the 100 block of G Street parking lot. In each incident, nothing was stolen, and police were not called.

Between 7:30-8:00 pm, three 12-13 year old teens were seen walking along 3rd Street. One teen had a stick and began breaking the light pole bulbs with it. Several witnesses told them to stop and one honked their car horn at them. The teens then entered 201 I Street apartments, and exited on the other side towards I Street, SW. Police were contacted and a report made.

On Sunday, March 28th between 2-3 pm, a youth attempted to rob a neighborhood man near an arcade in the 200 block of G Street, SW. The youth flashed the butt of a plastic toy gun and demanded personal items. The complainant refused, and pursued the youth to the area in front of Safeway, where police arrested the youth.

A group of young adults were outside the unit around 8 pm talking loudly. The resident went downstairs and looked through the peephole. A few minutes later there were three loud bangs on the door. The resident discovered footprints on the door - the group had kicked the door. The storm door was locked and was not damaged. The resident called the police and reported the incident.

At approximately 4:15 pm. a young man kicked and damaged the front door of a CPIV home. The door was damaged and the lower lock was disabled. However, no one entered the unit. The incident was captured on the Ring doorbell of the unit. The video shows a young man kicking the door. He was part of a group of 7 or 8 kids, boys and girls, aged 10 - 15 years old who were seen in the neighborhood at the time of the incident.
